The Dells that I bought achieve "retina" at about 38" and are 94 PPI, so I can barely make out the pixels - not enough to be a problem. My tired eyes like less than 100 PPI at 35" working distance. photo and video, but not so great for a DAW UI. As MediaGary notes, retina works well for displaying visual content, e.g. XURANIUM, the retina display calculator is a great place to start. This provides just enough extra real estate to work comfortably in Pro Tools and document editing - my previous was 2x 20" 1680 x 1050.

Now that it's just one screen, and I'm exclusively Win10/Sierra (in that priority) on my Mac Pro, all is well. Be aware that I had some boot up problems going between macOS, Win7 and Win10 when I had multiple screens. Your multiple additional screen plan might be beneficial. They make a 55 and a 65, and I would really like to have a 60. That's why I went to a 55-inch screen (80 PPI). I had a 40-inch screen at 4k (110 PPI) that I found too hard to see at my 45-inch working distance. If you are having trouble seeing your screen now, then a *lower* PPI value will make things easier to see. If you're easily able to see your existing screen, then you can try combinations of screen size and resolution (horizontal/vertical pixels) that offer the same final PPI value. Pay attention to the PPI (pixels per inch) value. You can do a few experiments to see what screen size is comfortable for you: For whatever screen you're working with now, plug in its resolution values into this online tool: I opted for a 55-inch 4K (3840x2160) screen to comfortably see what I need to see. your 45-inch working distance is about the same as mine. First, an apology to missing his question about twin inputs to a single display. įor now I'm hesitating between a 32" or a 40" screen or something. I'm placed 115 cm (45") distance from my screen and I would like to use it to see the most tracks possible in complex projects in the arrangement window of cubase but being also able to clearly read the small letters and numbers about volume, pan, track's name etc.
